Okay, some may argue that a mishap at a wedding isn’t funny AT ALL. Okay, I can understand that coming from a future bride’s perspective. Milestones DJ had the pleasure of performing again for Pride Industries in Sacramento. This time it was their holiday party. Milestones DJ also performs their summer dance in June.

Not only is this a great organization with an equally great cause, the people who come to these dances are – by far – the most appreciative audience we perform for. They love all music and are on the dance floor until the very end.

If you are in the Northern California area, you may be familiar with Grocery Outlet – a bargain grocery store. Apparently they feel the need to get into the bargain bridal arena and will be holding an event on June 18, 2011.

“Dash To Your Dress” Bargain Bridal Event will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2011 at the Oakland Grocery Outlet store at 2900 Broadway in Oakland, CA from 7am to 2pm.

The event will be (according to Grocery Outlet’s Facebook page) a one-day $99 designer wedding gown shopping celebration. If anyone reading this goes, please let us know how it went and if you found your dress there.

When we think of Costco wholesale stores, we think of giant vats of mayonnaise, 80-pack bundles of toilet paper and those flat-bed trollies that help us cart the stuff around the humongous warehouse store. Now we can also think of…wedding gowns. Yes, the world has come to an end – Costco is now in the wedding gown business.

Kirkland, Washington based Costco teamed up with “celebrity” wedding gown designer Kirstie Kelly (ever heard of her? neither have we) to produce six different style wedding gowns which will reportedly be sold for 40% off retail prices. The gowns will sell from $699-$1,399 and will come in sizes 2-24 with materials made up of organza, satin and taffeta.

Now don’t go running out to the nearest Costco to buy your dress – for now it’s a traveling trunk show, but Costco says they plan to eventually have them in every location. Our question: Where will you try these dresses on, the meat locker?

Dave & Quennie

Milestones DJ was a part of a very beautiful wedding on Sunday at the great Morgan Creek Golf & Country Club in Roseville. The couple – Dave & Quennie – were very nice and their friends and family were clearly happy to see them get married. For a Sunday wedding, they danced ’til 11pm and could have kept dancing.

The ceremony was held outdoors, even though the rain didn’t cooperate, under a pavilion-style cover. Thankfully it wasn’t too cold, so the ceremony went off without a hitch. Friends and family then joined together inside the banquet facility – which is very nice – for a wonderful buffet and bar.

Congrats and thanks to Dave & Quennie for having us help out on their wedding day and we highly recommend Morgan Creek Golf & Country Club (916-780-2582…ask for Trinity) for a wedding. All of the accommodations were stellar and the staff was very attentive and nice to work with.

Today, Google announced that they are entering the wedding business by offering a dedicated wedding planning web site for couples-to-be. With the help of top planner and destination expert Michelle Rago, Google offers web site templates and planning advice as well as photo editing and announcements using Picnik software and Google Docs. You can also create photo albums using Picasa.

Google says that they will kick off the new site by holding a wedding sweepstake offering $25,000 and the chance to have Michelle Rago help plan your wedding.

Gaylord & Judy

Last night Milestones DJ performed at a wedding in Nevada City at the Elk’s Lodge. The couple, Gaylord & Judy, had known each other in high school, but never dated. They met online later in life, started dating and – pow! – they got married with family and friends surrounding them in a really nice wedding and reception on Saturday. The stories and speeches were touching and it was clear that they had (re)found their perfect match and their friends and family couldn’t be more thrilled for them.
